IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Siliguri, June 12: Arriving at Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar launched a sharp political attack on the Trinamool Congress and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming that the ruling party in West Bengal is “collapsing like a house of cards.” He further stated that serious questions are being raised over the internal support base of the party’s Members of Parliament.

Majumdar claimed that after reports of nearly 20 Trinamool Congress MPs allegedly signing a letter in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, internal dissatisfaction within the party has become clearly visible. Taking a dig at the ruling party, he said there is no need to count how many MPs are in Parliament, but rather to count how many still stand with Mamata Banerjee, adding that the number is steadily decreasing.

The coming days more leaders would leave the party and move towards other political directions, indicating a gradual weakening of the Trinamool Congress organisational structure.

Referring to recent court appearances by Abhishek Banerjee, Majumdar said that he was compelled to attend due to strict judicial orders. He alleged that earlier it was easier to avoid summons from central investigative agencies such as the CBI or ED, but such situations are no longer possible. In a sarcastic remark, he said those who once lived like “royalty” are now being forced to attend court proceedings regularly.

Highlighting internal disagreements within the party, Majumdar also pointed to strained relations between senior leaders like Kalyan Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. He stated that traditional and senior leaders of the party would not accept someone suddenly rising to leadership through political favouritism, adding that the party must now decide whether it stands with Kalyan Banerjee or Abhishek Banerjee.

He also informed that he would be attending an administrative meeting in Malda, where further political strategies and statements regarding North Bengal politics may be revealed.
