IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Tarakeswar, August 9: West Bengal Legislative Assembly Speaker Rathindra Basu visited the sacred Taraknath Temple in Tarakeswar on Sunday and offered prayers before Lord Taraknath. The visit took place amid the presence of a large number of devotees at the temple, with local residents and pilgrims showing considerable interest in the Speaker’s arrival.

Rathindra Basu reached the holy Taraknath Dham on Sunday to offer puja at the historic temple. Upon his arrival at the Tarakeswar temple, he was welcomed by Tarakeswar MLA Santu Pan. On behalf of the MLA, the Assembly Speaker was greeted with a portrait of Lord Taraknath as a mark of respect and goodwill.

After receiving the welcome, the West Bengal Assembly Speaker entered the temple premises and offered puja to Lord Taraknath. He also spent time in prayer inside the temple, seeking the blessings of the deity. Temple authorities also welcomed the Speaker during his visit and extended their greetings to him.

The visit took place on a Sunday, when the Tarakeswar temple was witnessing a considerable gathering of devotees. The arrival of the Assembly Speaker attracted the attention of pilgrims and local residents, who expressed enthusiasm over his visit to the famous shrine.

Tarakeswar is one of the prominent religious destinations in West Bengal and the Taraknath Temple draws devotees throughout the year. Sunday’s gathering was particularly noticeable, with pilgrims arriving at the temple to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva in the form of Taraknath.

During his visit, Rathindra Basu offered prayers in accordance with the temple rituals and subsequently left the temple premises after completing the puja. The visit remained largely focused on religious observance, with the Speaker spending time inside the temple and participating in the prayers.

Tarakeswar MLA Santu Pan expressed his happiness over the Assembly Speaker’s visit to the temple. He said that Rathindra Basu’s arrival at Tarakeswar and his offering of prayers to Lord Taraknath was a matter of great joy.

The MLA also welcomed the Speaker on behalf of the local area and expressed his appreciation for the visit to the sacred shrine. The presentation of the portrait of Lord Taraknath was part of the welcome extended to the Speaker when he arrived at the temple.

Security arrangements were also strengthened around the temple premises in view of the Speaker’s visit. Additional security measures were put in place to ensure that the movement of the Assembly Speaker remained smooth and that devotees could continue their religious activities without disruption.

The presence of a large number of devotees meant that the temple area remained busy throughout the day. Despite the gathering, arrangements were made to facilitate the Speaker’s entry into the temple and his subsequent departure after completing the puja.

The Taraknath Temple holds a special place among Shiva devotees and is visited by pilgrims from different parts of Bengal. The temple’s religious significance makes Tarakeswar an important pilgrimage destination, particularly during periods when devotees undertake special visits to offer prayers to Lord Shiva.

Rathindra Basu’s Sunday visit therefore became a notable occasion at the temple, with local residents and devotees taking interest in the arrival of the Assembly Speaker. After offering prayers and receiving blessings at the shrine, he left the temple premises.
