IIE DIGITAL DESK : Howrah on Thursday, May 21, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subhendu Adhikari visited the renowned Belur Math, where he offered prayers at the main Ramakrishna Temple and participated in a series of religious observances. The visit included paying respects at the sanctum dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna, followed by a quiet moment of homage at the room associated with Swami Vivekananda. He also visited the shrines of Holy Mother Sarada Devi and Swami Brahmananda within the monastery complex.
Adhikari also met the president of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Swami Gautamananda Maharaj, for a brief interaction at the monastic headquarters.
It is worth noting that the claim that he visited the math “after becoming Chief Minister” is factually incorrect. Subhendu Adhikari is not the Chief Minister of West Bengal; the state’s Chief Minister is Mamata Banerjee. Adhikari currently serves as a senior opposition leader in the state.
Completing his visit at Belur Math, he was scheduled to attend an administrative meeting in Howrah, continuing his day’s political engagements. The visit combined both devotional observance and public administrative activity, drawing attention in local political circles.
