“Illegal Sacrifice of Banned Animals During Eid Will Invite Strict Action”: Kapil Mishra Issues Delhi Warning

IIE DIGITAL DESK ; New Delhi, May 22: Delhi minister Kapil Mishra on Friday announced strict enforcement measures ahead of Eid, warning that the sacrifice of prohibited animals, including cows, calves, camels and other banned animals, will be treated as a criminal offence in the national capital.

The media, Mishra said the Delhi government’s development department has issued a set of guidelines and restrictions to regulate animal sacrifice during the upcoming Eid celebrations. He stated that the slaughter of banned animals in Delhi is completely illegal and anyone found violating the rules or attempting to do so would face legal consequences under criminal law.

Mishra, authorities have been instructed to maintain strict vigilance across the city to ensure that prohibited practices do not take place during the festival period. He emphasized that law enforcement agencies would take immediate action against violators.

“The sacrifice of cattle, cows, calves, camels and other prohibited animals during Eid in Delhi is completely illegal. Anyone found doing so, or attempting to do so, will face criminal charges and strict legal action,” Mishra said.

The minister further clarified that animal sacrifice in public spaces has also been prohibited. He warned that performing sacrifices openly on roads, streets, or public areas would lead to legal proceedings against those involved.

Mishra highlighted restrictions on the illegal trade and transport of animals during the Eid period. He stated that unauthorized animal markets, roadside livestock trading, and temporary cattle markets set up in lanes or public streets are not permitted under the law.

The minister also addressed sanitation and public health concerns associated with animal sacrifice. He said strict instructions have been issued prohibiting the dumping of blood, animal remains, or waste into drains, sewage systems, roads, or public spaces after sacrifices are carried out.

“Kurbani should take place only at designated and approved locations. Throwing blood or waste into drains, sewers, or on roads is strictly prohibited,” he added.

The announcement comes amid heightened administrative preparations in Delhi ahead of Eid celebrations, with authorities focusing on law and order, hygiene, and enforcement of existing municipal and animal protection regulations.
