Nizamuddin Residents Expresss Concern Over Understand Area Ahead Of Muharram
Nizamuddin, July 16, 2024 – Residents of the Nizamuddin locality have raised concerns over the lack of cleanliness in their area despite multiple requests to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). With the holy month of Muharram approaching, locals are urging the authorities to take immediate action. Community leader, Mr. Ahmed, stated, "We have been reaching out to the MCD for weeks, but there has been no response. The streets are littered, and the sanitation conditions are deteriorating, posing a health risk."
The residents fear that the unclean conditions could lead to a rise in infections and diseases during the religious observance when many gather for processions and pray.An official from the MCD, when contacted, assured that steps will be taken promptly to address the grievances of the residents. "We are aware of the situation and will ensure that the area is cleaned before Muharram," the official said.
The community continues to hope for swift action to ensure a clean and safe environment for their religious activities.Each year, well ahead of the procession, the area is spruced up. However, it is for the first time that depite repeated reminders, the area remains dirty said the shrine in charge.
