IIE DOGOTAL DESK : West Bengal is experiencing a noticeable drop in temperatures, signaling the approach of winter. For the past two days, rainfall has been minimal, with clear skies and sunny weather prevailing in South Bengal. Occasionally, the sky has been partly cloudy, but no significant rainfall has occurred. The Alipore Meteorological Centre in Kolkata has indicated that the monsoon is expected to officially withdraw from the state by October 14 or 15, marking the end of the rainy season. However, some western districts and the hilly regions of North Bengal may experience light showers during this week.
With the decrease in rainfall, the morning temperatures have begun to fall, and the air feels cooler. Relative humidity levels are also declining, contributing to a more comfortable atmosphere. This shift in weather conditions is a clear indication that winter is approaching in the region.
Looking ahead, the weather department forecasts that the monsoon will officially depart from the state by mid-October. This transition is expected to bring about a gradual decrease in humidity and a steady drop in temperatures, paving the way for the onset of the winter season. Residents can anticipate cooler mornings and evenings, with daytime temperatures remaining pleasant. The change in weather is also expected to reduce the occurrence of thundershowers, leading to clearer skies and more stable weather conditions across West Bengal.
As winter approaches, it is advisable for residents to prepare for the cooler temperatures by adjusting their wardrobes and taking necessary precautions to stay warm. The transition from the monsoon to winter is a welcome change for many, bringing relief from the humidity and the promise of more comfortable weather in the coming weeks.
