IIE DIGITAL DESK : Howrah, March 18: As the West Bengal Assembly elections approach, Arup Roy, the Trinamool Congress candidate for the Midhya Howrah Assembly constituency, kicked off his election campaign with energy and enthusiasm on Wednesday. Following the announcement of the candidate list, Roy personally initiated wall writing across the constituency to promote his candidacy, sending a strong message of visibility and grassroots outreach.
The campaign is being driven by the slogan “Whatever attacks come, Bengal will win again,” which Roy has positioned as the central theme of his electoral strategy. Speaking to supporters, he emphasized that the current election would focus on the SIR (Special Infrastructure Region) issue, which he plans to make a key point of discussion during campaigning.
Roy has previously served three consecutive terms as MLA from Midhya Howrah since 2011, holding ministerial responsibilities in each term. Drawing on his past successes, he expressed strong confidence in securing a fourth consecutive victory. “Work is never-ending, and we must continue to serve the people,” he said, underlining his commitment to development and constituency welfare.
Regarding allegations raised by the BJP about illegal constructions in the Howrah municipal area, Roy candidly acknowledged the issue while attributing responsibility to the municipal authorities rather than his office. His transparency on this matter appeared to resonate with supporters, who have shown visible enthusiasm from the first day of campaigning.
The campaign launch also saw significant participation from party workers and local supporters, signaling the start of a vigorous election effort. Roy indicated that in the coming days, the campaign would intensify further, with continued wall writing, public interactions, and rallies aimed at consolidating voter support ahead of the polls.
With a combination of experience, strong local presence, and active grassroots outreach, Arup Roy and the Trinamool Congress are projecting confidence in retaining the Midhya Howrah seat in the upcoming assembly elections.
