West Bengal (July 06,2023) : The hearing on Suvendu Adhikari's case against the West Bengal government on Model Code of Conduct violation in the Calcutta High Court is scheduled for today. Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, has filed a petition in the High Court alleging that the state government is violating the Model Code of Conduct by participating in a mass-outreach programme called "Sorasori Mukhyomontri" (chief minister directly).The programme allows people to call the chief minister directly and convey their grievances. Adhikari has alleged that the programme is being used for political campaigning and is a violation of the Model Code of Conduct, which is in place ahead of the panchayat polls in West Bengal.

The state government has denied the allegations and has said that the programme is not being used for political campaigning. The High Court will hear the petition today and is likely to give its verdict soon.
