IIE DIGITAL DESK : Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have officially announced their engagement after eight years of being together. Rodríguez revealed the news on Instagram on August 11, 2025, sharing a photo of her hand adorned with a massive oval-shaped diamond ring, accompanied by the caption, "Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives."  

The couple began their relationship in 2016 and made their first public appearance together at the Best FIFA Football Awards in January 2017. They have since built a blended family, including Ronaldo's eldest son, Cristiano Jr., and four children together: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, born in 2017, daughter Alana, born in 2017, and daughter Bella, born in 2022. Tragically, Bella's twin brother, Ángel, passed away shortly after birth in April 2022. 

Rodríguez, 31, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Jaca, Spain. She moved to Madrid at 18, where she worked various jobs before becoming a sales assistant at a Gucci store, where she met Ronaldo. Since then, she has risen to prominence as a model, influencer, and philanthropist. She has collaborated with luxury brands like Gucci, Prada, and Chanel and starred in the Netflix docuseries "I Am Georgina," which offers an intimate look into her life and family.  

The engagement comes amid a significant period in Ronaldo's career. In June 2025, he signed a record-breaking $700 million contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, making it the highest average annual salary for a professional athlete. The two-year deal includes a $244.4 million yearly salary, a $33.6 million signing bonus, a 15% equity stake in the club, $5.5 million in private-jet credits, $82.4 million in endorsements, and 16 full-time personal staff members.
