IIE DIGITAL DESK : Vivo has officially launched the V60 in India, positioning the new phone as a serious mid-range contender with a long battery, ambitious camera hardware and a 4nm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. The series arrives as the successor to the V50 and aims to blend flagship-style features — a high-brightness quad-curved AMOLED display, Zeiss-backed cameras and heavy battery capacity — into a price bracket that starts at ₹36,999.
The V60 carries a 6.77-inch 1.5K quad-curved AMOLED panel with up to 120Hz refresh rate and an eye-popping local peak brightness rating advertised up to 5,000 nits, which Vivo says will help visibility in bright daylight. Under the metal and glass, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC powers the handset paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage, a configuration that aims to deliver smooth everyday performance and multitasking headroom for most users.
Vivo has put camera capability front and centre: a Zeiss-backed triple rear setup led by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor is joined by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 telephoto module and an 8-megapixel ultrawide shooter. A 50-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls, and both front and rear setups are capable of 4K recording — a clear statement of intent for imaging in this price tier. The Zeiss partnership and the presence of a dedicated telephoto sensor give the V60 a camera story aimed at buyers who prioritise flexible framing and detail.
Battery life is another headline feature: a 6,500mAh cell backed by 90W wired fast charging should deliver multiple days of typical use for many users while enabling fast top-ups when needed. Vivo rounds out the package with practical additions such as IP68 and IP69 dust- and water-resistance, an in-display optical fingerprint scanner, NFC and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, making the V60 a well-rounded handset for its segment.
On the software front the V60 ships with Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15 and Vivo promises four years of major OS upgrades plus six years of security updates, a commitment that will matter for buyers who keep phones longer. The phone also includes several AI features promoted by Vivo — AI Image Expander, AI Smart Call Assistant, AI Captions and an AI spam-call blocker — which aim to add convenience beyond raw silicon specs.
Vivo has priced the V60 at ₹36,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model, with higher RAM and storage options at ₹38,999, ₹40,999 and up to ₹45,999 for the 16GB + 512GB variant; colour choices include Auspicious Gold, Mist Grey and Moonlit Blue. The handset will go on sale through Vivo’s e-store, major e-commerce platforms and select offline retailers starting August 19, giving the company time to build awareness after the launch.
The V60 pitches itself as a feature-heavy mid-ranger with particular strengths in battery endurance and camera versatility, bolstered by a strong software-update promise — a combination that should appeal to buyers who want near-flagship experiences without flagship pricing.
