IIE DIGITAL DESK : East Midnapore, March 20: The election campaign gathering momentum across West Bengal, political activity has intensified at the grassroots level, and candidates from all major parties have begun reaching out directly to voters. In the Purba Panskura Assembly constituency, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate Ibrahim Ali wasted no time after the announcement of his candidature and launched an early morning campaign drive on Friday, aiming to build a direct connection with the electorate.

Starting his day at the Kolaghat railway station, one of the busiest transit points in the region, Ibrahim Ali was seen interacting with daily commuters, many of whom rely on the station for their routine travel to workplaces. Engaging in conversations with passengers, he sought to understand their concerns, particularly those related to transportation, employment, and everyday challenges faced by the working class. His outreach then extended to the nearby flower market, where he met with traders, small business owners, and laborers, further broadening his engagement with diverse sections of society.

Throughout the campaign, Ibrahim Ali emphasized the importance of listening to the people, carefully noting the issues raised by locals. From civic infrastructure gaps to economic hardships, residents voiced a range of concerns, reflecting the complex socio-economic realities of the constituency. The CPIM candidate assured them that their grievances would be central to his campaign agenda and promised to fight for policies that prioritize public welfare and transparency in governance.

Sharpening his political attack, Ibrahim Ali alleged that a tacit understanding or “setting” exists between the ruling All India Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state. According to him, this alleged nexus has resulted in the marginalization of common people, who continue to struggle with unresolved local issues and lack of development. He indicated that this narrative would remain a key plank of his campaign as he attempts to position the Left as a credible alternative.

Projecting his vision for the constituency, Ibrahim Ali asserted that his fight is rooted in ensuring genuine development, equitable distribution of resources, and a clean, accountable administrative system. He stressed that the Left’s political ideology continues to focus on the welfare of workers, farmers, and marginalized communities, and expressed confidence that voters would respond positively to this message.

The election campaigning gathers pace in East Midnapore, Ibrahim Ali’s early outreach efforts signal an attempt by the CPI(M) to re-establish its connect with the masses. The coming days are expected to witness intensified political engagement, with candidates crisscrossing the constituency in a bid to win voter trust in what is shaping up to be a closely watched electoral contest.
