Burdwaman (August 25,2023) : BJP leader Agnimitra Paul on Friday reminded the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) about the long-pending demand for the construction of a bridge over the Damodar river at Burnpur. Paul, who is the MLA from Asansol South, said that the bridge is essential for the development of the area and has been a demand of the people for many years. She said that the TMC government has been making false promises about the construction of the bridge and has not taken any concrete steps so far.

Paul said that she will continue to raise the demand for the construction of the bridge and will not rest until it is built. She urged the TMC government to stop playing with the lives of the people and take immediate steps to construct the bridge. The proposed bridge will connect the two banks of the Damodar river at Burnpur, which is a major industrial area in West Bengal. The bridge will help to improve connectivity and reduce travel time between the two banks of the river. It will also boost economic activity in the area and create jobs.

The construction of the bridge has been a long-standing demand of the people of Burnpur. The previous Left Front government had also announced the construction of the bridge, but it could not be completed due to financial constraints. The TMC government came to power in 2011 and promised to construct the bridge. However, the government has not taken any concrete steps so far. Paul's statement is likely to put pressure on the TMC government to take steps to construct the bridge. The government will be under pressure to fulfill its promise to the people of Burnpur.
