IIE DIGITAL: India has reaffirmed its support for Palestine's bid for full membership in the United Nations while reiterating its commitment to a two-state solution as the only sustainable path to resolving the long-standing Israel-Palestine conflict.

The position was conveyed by Sripriya Ranganathan, Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), during the ministerial meeting of the Palestine Donor Group held in Brussels on Monday. According to the MEA, she reaffirmed India's longstanding partnership with the Palestinian people and reiterated New Delhi's continued support for both a two-state solution and Palestine's membership in the United Nations.

India has consistently advocated for a negotiated settlement that envisions Israel and Palestine coexisting peacefully as two sovereign states within internationally recognised borders, in accordance with international law.

During the meeting, Ranganathan highlighted India's sustained developmental partnership with Palestine, emphasising that its assistance is demand-driven and focused on key sectors such as healthcare, education, capacity building and vocational training. She also noted India's continued humanitarian support for the Palestinian people.

The MEA further stated that India is currently implementing several major initiatives in Palestine, including projects related to healthcare, women's empowerment and institutional development. Ranganathan also announced a fresh set of projects aimed at supporting rehabilitation, strengthening healthcare services, expanding educational opportunities and enhancing vocational training in the region.
