Kolkata (August 10,2023) : Eastern Railways has announced a special train to North Bengal ahead of Independence Day. The train, which will be named "Swadesh Express", will depart from Kolkata on August 11 and will reach New Jalpaiguri on August 12. The train will have 12 coaches, including two AC coaches, six sleeper coaches, and four general coaches. It will stop at major stations en route, including Howrah, Bandel, Naihati, Krishnanagar, Malda Town, and Jalpaiguri.

Tickets for the special train will be available from July 25 onwards. They can be booked online or at any railway reservation counter. The decision to run a special train to North Bengal ahead of Independence Day is a welcome one. It will help to clear the rush of passengers who are planning to travel to the region during the long weekend. The train will also provide a convenient and comfortable way to travel to North Bengal, which is a popular tourist destination.
