New Road Tax Rules in West Bengal
IIE Digital Desk : West Bengal has implemented new road tax rules. For private vehicles, a one-time 15-year tax payment replaces the previous 5-year term. The tax rates vary based on engine capacity: vehicles with up to 900cc engines will pay 7.5% of the vehicle price or ₹30,000 (whichever is higher). For 900-1490cc engines, it's ₹45,000; for 1490-2000cc, it's ₹60,000; and for over 2000cc, it's ₹75,000. Commercial vehicles now have the option to pay annually instead of quarterly, with discounts for multi-year payments.
