
The sudden visit of the Chief Minister created a wave of excitement in the area. However, beyond inspection, he was seen actively participating in cleaning activities at the Ganga ghat, taking a hands-on approach to the drive.
Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul, Industry Minister Tapas Ray, and Information and Broadcasting Minister Purnima Chakraborty also joined the special cleanliness campaign. Together, they engaged in cleaning the ghat premises and stressed the importance of keeping the Ganga free from pollution.
Nabanna, the state government has prepared a special roadmap for beautification and maintenance of Kolkata’s iconic river ghats. The cleanliness drive at Mayer Ghat is part of this larger plan, marking the beginning of a broader initiative.
The Chief Minister and the ministers emphasized that maintaining cleanliness at the ghats is not solely the responsibility of the administration, but also requires active participation and awareness from the public.
Officials indicated that similar cleanliness drives will be conducted at other ghats across the city in the coming days as part of the government’s continued efforts to improve hygiene and preserve the cultural and environmental significance of the riverfront areas.
