Kolkata (August 23,2023) : A college student in Malda was allegedly beaten to death by the family members of his beloved on Tuesday. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Sourav Mondal, was a student of the Malda College. According to the police, Sourav had been in a relationship with a girl from the same village. However, the girl's family was opposed to the relationship. On Tuesday, the girl's family members allegedly attacked Sourav with sticks and rods when he was returning home from college. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. They have arrested two of the accused, while the others are absconding. The incident has caused outrage in the area and protests have been held demanding the arrest of the remaining accused. The police have assured that they will take strict action against the culprits.
