
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 4: Hot and uncomfortable weather conditions continue to persist across South Bengal, including Kolkata, where residents are experiencing intense heat and high humidity, making daily life increasingly difficult. Temperatures are steadily rising, adding to the discomfort as the oppressive weather conditions remain unchanged.
While South Bengal continues to grapple with heat and humidity, North Bengal is gradually witnessing the activation of pre-monsoon rainfall. According to the latest forecast from the weather department, several districts in North Bengal are likely to receive heavy rainfall starting Thursday. Alerts have been issued for Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar, where the possibility of significant rain activity has increased.
South Bengal is unlikely to see any major rainfall activity at present, although conditions may become favorable for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds towards the end of the week. For now, the chances of rain in South Bengal remain relatively low.
Kolkata, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius. On Thursday morning, the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 29.8 degrees Celsius, which is about 2.0 degrees above the normal level, further indicating the continuing warm and humid conditions prevailing over the region.
