Kolkata (August 22,2023) : Former Jadavpur University student union leader Aritra Majumdar on Tuesday broke his silence on the case involving him and two other students. He said that he was ready to face any investigation and that he had not fled the city. Majumdar was arrested on August 11 along with two other students, Anirban Bhattacharya and Sudipta Gupta, on charges of sedition and criminal conspiracy. They were accused of raising anti-national slogans and disrupting a meeting of the university's executive council.

Majumdar, who was released on bail on August 16, said that he had been framed by the university authorities. He alleged that he was being targeted because of his political activities. "I am ready to face any investigation. I have not fled the city. I am here and I will cooperate with the police," Majumdar said. He also said that he was not afraid of the charges against him. "I am confident that I will be acquitted," he said.

The Jadavpur University case has sparked a political controversy. The ruling Trinamool Congress has accused the opposition parties of trying to foment trouble on the campus. The opposition parties have denied the allegations and have said that the students are being targeted for their political beliefs. The case is being investigated by the Kolkata Police. The police have said that they are taking the matter seriously and that they will not spare anyone involved in the incident.
