IIE DIGITAL DESK : April 21: Akshay Kumar’s latest horror-comedy Bhoot Bangla continues its strong theatrical run as the film has crossed the ₹100 crore milestone at the global box office within just four days of release. The Priyadarshan-directed entertainer, which hit cinemas on April 18, has emerged as one of the fastest-growing commercial successes of 2026 despite mixed critical response.
The film, starring Akshay Kumar alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, opened to a solid weekend and maintained impressive momentum through its first three days. On its first Sunday, the movie recorded its highest single-day collection of around ₹23 crore in India, helping it build a strong base heading into the weekday phase of its run.
However, the film experienced a sharp decline on its first Monday, as is typical for most releases after the weekend surge. Early estimates suggest a noticeable drop in domestic earnings, but the worldwide performance has remained resilient, pushing the total global collection past ₹100 crore in just four days. Industry trackers report that the film’s worldwide gross now stands at approximately ₹106 crore, marking a significant milestone for the production team.
Despite facing competition from other ongoing releases and receiving mixed audience feedback regarding its narrative length and pacing, Bhoot Bangla has benefited from strong star power, nostalgic appeal, and the return of the Akshay Kumar–Priyadarshan collaboration, which has historically delivered successful comedy entertainers.
The film also features an ensemble supporting cast including Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, Mithila Palkar, and others, contributing to its mass appeal across different audience segments. The horror-comedy genre blend, combined with high-scale production values, has helped sustain audience interest in multiplexes and single screens alike.
Trade analysts note that while weekday collections are expected to remain lower compared to the weekend, the film’s early achievement of the ₹100 crore global mark indicates a commercially healthy run. Its continued performance over the coming days will determine whether it can sustain momentum and move towards a higher lifetime total.
With this strong start, Bhoot Bangla has added another success to Akshay Kumar’s box office record, reaffirming his standing as one of Bollywood’s most bankable stars in the commercial cinema space.
