West Bengal (June 30,2023) : The poor condition of ballot boxes stored in government offices in West Bengal has raised concerns ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections. The boxes, which are used to cast votes in elections, have been found to be in a state of disrepair. Many of the boxes are rusted, damaged, or missing parts.

This has raised concerns about the security of the votes cast in the panchayat elections. If the boxes are not secure, there is a risk that they could be tampered with or stolen. The Election Commission of India has said that it is aware of the problem and is taking steps to address it. However, some people are not convinced that the EC is doing enough.

They argue that the EC should replace all of the damaged ballot boxes before the panchayat elections. They also say that the EC should increase security at the government offices where the boxes are stored. The panchayat elections are scheduled to be held in West Bengal on May 14, 19, and 21, 2023. The elections are a major test for the state government, and the security of the votes is essential.
