Haldia: 5 people killed in road accident
Haldia (August 29,2023) : Five people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Haldia on Tuesday. The accident took place on the Haldia-Kulti highway near the Haldia Dock Complex. A truck carrying sand collided head-on with a car. The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was badly mangled and the five occupants were killed on the spot. The two injured people were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Ujjal Mondal, Sujit Mondal, Ranjan Mondal, Suman Mondal, and Ranjit Mondal. They were all residents of Haldia. The driver of the truck has fled the scene and is yet to be traced. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. The Haldia-Kulti highway is a busy road and accidents are common. The authorities have been urged to take steps to improve safety on the road.
