Standing above the holy Ganga River near the iconic Laxman Jhula, India’s first glass suspension bridge, Bajrang Setu, has opened a new chapter in adventure tourism, offering travellers a breathtaking skywalk experience above the river.

The 132-metre-long suspension bridge has been constructed close to the old Laxman Jhula, which was permanently closed in 2019 due to safety concerns. Designed as a modern alternative, Bajrang Setu combines advanced engineering with traditional architectural inspiration. The main pillars of the bridge have been designed with elements inspired by the Kedarnath Temple, creating a unique blend of modern infrastructure and India’s rich spiritual heritage.

The biggest attraction of the bridge is its glass skywalk, made with strong multi-layered glass panels designed to provide visitors with a thrilling view of the Ganga flowing beneath their feet. Walking across the transparent pathway gives tourists the feeling of floating above the river while witnessing the powerful currents and scenic beauty of the surrounding hills.

Along with adventure, special attention has been given to visitor safety. Trained personnel are deployed across the bridge area to monitor activities and ensure a secure experience for tourists. The structure has been designed to offer both excitement and comfort to people visiting Rishikesh from across India and abroad.

Located near the Tapovan and Laxman Jhula areas of Rishikesh, Bajrang Setu connects the Dehradun and Pauri Garhwal districts across the Ganga. Several popular destinations, including Ram Jhula, Parmarth Niketan, and the city’s famous cafes and ashrams, are situated nearby, making the bridge an ideal addition to the region’s tourism circuit.

Visitors looking to experience the glass skywalk can access the bridge by purchasing an entry ticket. The ticket price is set at ₹100 for adults and ₹50 for children. The bridge remains open for tourists from 6 AM to 10 PM every day, although travellers are advised to check for any changes in timings before planning their visit.
