IIE DIGITAL DESK : New Delhi, June 26, 2025 – Actress and reality star Tanishaa Mukerji opened up in an intimate interview with Indian Express, reflecting on a journey shaped by family legacy, resilience, and an authentic approach to fame, mental health, and wellness .

Born into the prestigious Mukherjee–Samarth film dynasty—daughter of director Shomu Mukherjee and veteran actress Tanuja, and younger sister to Bollywood icon Kajol—Tanishaa has been in the public eye since debuting in the 2003 horror flick Sssshhh…. In the years since, she’s embraced a diverse career path that spans film, reality TV, theatre, and entrepreneurship.

“Tanishaa described her career as a beautiful, blessed journey,” she shared. “I credit my mother for helping build my confidence as an artiste… With more women-led stories being told, I look forward to stronger roles” .

Rather than resting on her family's fame, Tanishaa has continually reinvented herself. After her early film roles—including in Ram Gopal Varma’s political thrillers Sarkar and Sarkar Raj—she embraced reality TV stints in Bigg Boss, Khatron Ke Khiladi, and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. She also explored English theatre and recently launched her own production house .

She insisted, “I’ve never believed in stopping… evolving into a 360‑degree artiste,” noting that each medium—whether film, stage, or TV—has offered unique lessons.

On the pressures of celebrity life, Tanishaa was candid: “Celebrity life is never easy… social media trolling adding to it.” But she chooses to not “lose sleep over what others think.” Instead, she blocks trolls and focuses on “constructive things”.

To maintain mental equilibrium, she practices yoga, kriya, and breathwork, grounding herself in spirituality rather than medication. Time with family, reading, and self-care routines add balance to her life .

Tanishaa views fitness as a way of life, not punishment. Mornings start with warm water and lime, yoga, and an hour of varied exercise—cardio, Pilates, weights, or cycling. Her diet emphasizes home-cooked, balanced meals—rice, dal, ghee, vegetables—and avoids junk and excessive caffeine. Hydration, gut health, and 7–8 hours of sleep complete her wellness regimen.

Her beauty secrets are similarly grounded: simple skincare with frequent moisturiser and sunblock, minimal facials, DIY treatments and heat protection. She also credits her genetics, diet, and gut health for maintaining glowing skin and hair.

Acting, she believes, is in her DNA. Inspired by her mother, “I grew up wanting to be exactly like her”, Tanishaa said, acknowledging that her career began after completing her education, supported by her grandmother. Though her career faced ups and downs, her family legacy has been a bedrock of inspiration.

Bolstering her artistic identity, Tanishaa also revealed a personal passion: she enjoys writing poetry—a facet of her that many fans might not know .

With her own production house underway, Tanishaa plans to develop and direct content that is meaningful, diverse, and women-driven. Reflecting on her versatile past—acting, dancing, reality television, stage work—she is eager to shape the future narrative of her creative journey.

Tanishaa Mukerji’s interview offers a refreshing blend of vulnerability and empowerment. From embracing her heritage to establishing independence, maintaining wellness, and nurturing creativity, she presents a rounded narrative of personal growth in the public sphere.

By honoring her mother’s influence while forging her own creative destiny, she exemplifies a modern artiste—grounded, holistic, and perpetually evolving.
