IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Los Angeles, October 29: Kannada superstar Yash grabbed attention at the Los Angeles premiere of the much-anticipated mythological epic Ramayana: Rise of a Legend with a striking fashion statement inspired by his on-screen character, Ravana. The actor arrived at the international event wearing an elegant all-black ensemble, but it was his specially designed gold brooch featuring Ravana’s ten heads that emerged as the biggest talking point of his red-carpet appearance. The distinctive accessory blended Indian mythology with contemporary fashion, offering a glimpse into the character he is set to portray in the film.

The grand premiere took place on October 27 at the David Geffen Theatre inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Yash, who plays the legendary king of Lanka, opted for a sharply tailored black outfit that provided the perfect backdrop for the elaborate gold ornament pinned to his jacket. The brooch featured intricate detailing inspired by Ravana’s ten-headed form, accompanied by delicate dangling gold chains that added movement and elegance to the design. He completed his look with dark sunglasses, gold hoop earrings and his signature beard, creating a powerful combination of modern red-carpet style and mythological grandeur.

Unlike an ordinary fashion accessory, Yash’s brooch carried a direct connection to the character he portrays in the upcoming film. The ten-headed motif, traditionally associated with Ravana and known as Dashamukha, gave his appearance a distinctive identity. Against the understated black outfit, the golden ornament stood out prominently, making the actor’s look both stylish and closely connected to the epic’s central narrative.

In traditional interpretations of the Ramayana, Ravana’s ten heads represent much more than his fearsome appearance. They are associated with his extraordinary knowledge, including his mastery of the four Vedas and six Vedangas. At the same time, the character’s story reflects the complicated relationship between intelligence, ambition, pride and desire. Despite being a powerful ruler and a formidable scholar, Ravana’s arrogance and decisions ultimately contribute to his downfall.

By incorporating the ten-headed Ravana motif into his premiere outfit, Yash appeared to acknowledge the complexity of the character rather than presenting him merely as a conventional antagonist. The accessory served as a subtle visual reference to Ravana’s intellectual stature and royal identity, while also generating curiosity about how the character will be portrayed in the film.

This is not the first time Yash has used symbolic jewellery to connect his public appearances with his role in Ramayana. At San Diego Comic-Con earlier in the year, the actor attracted attention with an all-black ensemble featuring a gold trishul-shaped brooch. The accessory referenced Ravana’s devotion to Lord Shiva, with the trishul being one of the Hindu deity’s most recognisable symbols. His latest choice takes that approach further, replacing the trident with a more elaborate representation of Ravana himself.

Yash was accompanied by his wife, actor Radhika Pandit, who joined him at the Los Angeles premiere. The event also brought together the film’s leading cast and creative team, including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra. Their appearance on the international red carpet added to the excitement surrounding the ambitious cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic.

Ranbir Kapoor, who portrays Lord Rama, opted for a sophisticated light-toned bandhgala-style outfit featuring subtle detailing and dark trousers. His classic styling offered a different interpretation of traditional Indian elegance. Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita, chose a traditional saree with intricate embellishments, bringing a graceful ethnic touch to the international event. While the three lead actors adopted distinctly different fashion approaches, each look reflected a connection with the film’s mythological setting.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, also known internationally as Ramayana: Part One, is being developed as a two-part cinematic project. The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol plays Hanuman, while Ravie Dubey portrays Lakshman. The project is co-produced by Prime Focus Studios, DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.

The first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, coinciding with the Diwali festive season. With its large-scale production and prominent cast, the film has already generated considerable interest among audiences eager to see the epic brought to the big screen.

As anticipation builds ahead of the release, Yash’s Ravana-inspired brooch has become one of the most memorable fashion details from the Los Angeles premiere. The accessory demonstrates how a carefully chosen design can communicate a character’s identity even beyond the screen. By combining a contemporary black outfit with a gold ornament rooted in Indian mythology, Yash made a distinctive statement that connected his red-carpet appearance with the grandeur, knowledge and complexity associated with Ravana.

For fans of Yash and the upcoming Ramayana, the premiere offered more than a glimpse of the film’s cast. It also provided a taste of the visual identity surrounding the epic, with the actor’s ten-headed Ravana brooch emerging as a striking symbol of the character he is preparing to bring to life.
