Tragedy Strikes: West Bengal Worker Killed in Kashmir Terror Attack
IIE DIGITAL DESK : family from Kolkata received the devastating news of their loved one's death in a terrorist attack in Kashmir. The migrant worker, who had ventured to the region in search of better prospects, was among those killed in the recent violence that has once again cast a shadow over the conflict-ridden area.
The deceased, identified as Samir Guha, was a central government employee residing in Beliaghata, Kolkata. He had been working in an apple orchard in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir, when the attack occurred. His body was repatriated to Kolkata via Delhi, arriving at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at 7:29 PM on a recent evening. The arrival of the coffin was met with an outpouring of grief from family members and the local community.
Samir's wife, Sharbari Guha, and their daughter, Shubhangi, were present at the airport to receive his mortal remains. The emotional scene was further intensified by the presence of their three-and-a-half-year-old son, Hridhan, who, in his innocent confusion, repeatedly asked, "Where is Papa?" His words echoed the collective sorrow of a family torn apart by violence.
The repatriation process was meticulously coordinated, with the state government arranging for the transportation of the body from the airport to the family's residence in Behala. Local political leaders, including Firhad Hakim, the Mayor of Kolkata, and other representatives from the ruling party, were present to offer condolences and support to the grieving family.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the vulnerabilities faced by migrant workers in conflict zones. Despite assurances of safety and normalcy in the region, such attacks continue to disrupt the lives of innocent civilians seeking livelihood opportunities away from home.
