IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata, 6 May: Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nanda has issued a strict directive prohibiting the use of bulldozers and JCB machines in any form of public rallies or victory processions.

The commissioner made it clear that no procession involving bulldozers or JCB equipment will be permitted within Kolkata or elsewhere in the state. He further warned that strict legal action will be taken not only against those organizing such rallies but also against individuals and entities renting out such machinery for public demonstrations.

Police and central forces were quickly deployed to bring the situation under control.

The around 80 individuals have been arrested so far in connection with various incidents of unrest, and multiple cases have been registered based on specific complaints.

Commissioner Nanda also appealed to the public not to believe in rumours and to report any incidents directly to the police control room for immediate assistance. He assured that strict action would be taken against those involved in disturbing public peace.

The Election Commission has also issued strong directives regarding post-poll violence in the state, instructing senior officials including the Chief Secretary, police leadership, and central forces to take immediate action against offenders and ensure law and order is maintained across West Bengal.
