Kolkata (July 27,2023) : The Chingrighata flyover in Kolkata is in danger of collapse, according to a report by a third-party expert. The report, which was commissioned by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA), found that the flyover has several structural defects, including cracks in the girders and beams.
The KMDA has said that it will take immediate steps to repair the flyover. However, the report has raised concerns about the safety of the flyover, which is one of the busiest in Kolkata. The flyover was built in 2001 and is used by over 100,000 vehicles every day. It is a major link between the EM Bypass and Salt Lake City.
The report by the third-party expert found that the flyover has several structural defects, including:

Deformation of the deck
Corrosion of the steel
Damage to the bearings
