IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Washington, May 26:  West Asia, United States forces have once again carried out a strike in Iran, escalating tensions in the already volatile region. The US Central Command reportedly conducted the operation late Monday night in an area near the Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran.

The US military, the strike was carried out in “self-defence,” though officials have not provided detailed clarification regarding the exact location or nature of the target in southern Iran. The statement from the American side remains vague, with limited operational details released so far.

Present, a ceasefire is understood to be in place between the United States and Iran, with diplomatic channels reportedly active in an attempt to de-escalate tensions and move towards a negotiated settlement of the conflict. Despite these efforts, the latest military action has raised fresh concerns about the fragile nature of the truce.

Reports from the region indicated that several loud explosions were heard late Monday night in Bandar Abbas, a key port city in southern Iran. The incidents heightened local tensions and sparked uncertainty about possible military activity in the area.

The US Central Command confirmed that it had carried out a strike in southern Iran, reiterating that the action was taken purely for self-defence purposes. However, Iranian authorities have yet to issue a detailed public response regarding the latest developments.
