Soon after landing in Amsterdam, Prime Minister Modi shared a message on social media platform X, highlighting the growing importance of India’s partnership with the Netherlands and the wider European region. He noted that the visit assumes greater significance at a time when the India-EU trade agreement has provided fresh impetus to trade and investment ties between the two sides. According to Modi, the strengthening partnership is expected to open new avenues of cooperation in critical sectors including semiconductors, water management, renewable and green energy, climate-friendly technologies, and innovation-driven industries.
The Prime Minister emphasized that India sees the Netherlands as a key partner in Europe, particularly in areas linked to sustainable development, clean technology, logistics, agriculture, and advanced manufacturing. He also expressed optimism that the visit would help deepen bilateral engagement and create stronger business and technological collaborations between the two nations.
During the visit, Modi is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten. The talks are expected to focus on boosting economic ties, enhancing cooperation in clean energy and semiconductor manufacturing, and strengthening collaboration in areas such as digital technology, climate action, innovation, and water conservation. India and the Netherlands have increasingly expanded cooperation in recent years, with Dutch companies showing growing interest in investing in India’s fast-expanding technology and infrastructure sectors.
Prime Minister Modi will also meet King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima during his stay in the Netherlands. The meetings are expected to reaffirm the longstanding friendship between the two countries and explore opportunities for broader cultural, educational, and economic exchanges.
The Indian community in the Netherlands turned out in large numbers to welcome the Prime Minister in The Hague. Outside the hotel where Modi is staying, members of the diaspora organized a vibrant cultural reception featuring traditional Indian dance and music performances. Enthusiastic supporters waved Indian flags, chanted slogans, and greeted the Prime Minister with cheers as he interacted briefly with members of the community.
The event reflected the strong emotional and cultural bond shared by overseas Indians with their homeland and highlighted the growing role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening India’s global partnerships. Modi, who often acknowledges the contribution of overseas Indians during foreign visits, is also expected to address a community gathering during the trip.
The Netherlands visit is being viewed as an important step in advancing India’s engagement with Europe at a time of evolving global economic and geopolitical dynamics. Analysts believe the discussions held during the visit could pave the way for stronger collaboration in emerging technologies, sustainable development, and strategic investments in the coming years.
