Suchitra Krishnamoorthi Reveals She Proposed to Ram Gopal Varma
IIE Digital Desk : Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who was married to filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for 10 years, has revealed that she proposed to him. In an interview with ETimes, Krishnamoorthi said that she was the one who took the initiative to get married, after Varma had been hesitant about the idea. "I proposed to him," Krishnamoorthi said. "He called me to his office and said, 'Let's get married.' I said, 'Okay, let's get married.'"
Krishnamoorthi said that she was surprised by Varma's hesitation, as he had always been a very confident man. However, she said that she understood his concerns, as he had been married twice before.
"He was worried about the institution of marriage," Krishnamoorthi said. "He had been married twice before, and both marriages had ended in divorce. But I told him that I was different, and that I would never give up on him." Krishnamoorthi and Varma were married in 1992, and they had a daughter together, Aaliyah. They divorced in 2002.
