
IIE DIGITAL DESK : Asansol, 6 May: West Bengal, a major fire broke out late Tuesday night at a Trinamool Congress (TMC) party office in Asansol North constituency, reducing the premises to ashes.
The incident occurred in the Court More area of Asansol, where the TMC office was engulfed in flames around midnight. The fire also spread to an adjacent cake shop, causing significant damage to the commercial establishment.
Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and managed to bring the blaze under control after a swift operation. Officials confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident.
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire originated at the TMC office before spreading to nearby structures, though the exact cause is yet to be determined. Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the reason behind the fire and rule out any foul play.
The incident comes at a time when several districts in West Bengal have reported incidents of violence and unrest following the announcement of election results. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has already expressed concern over the situation and directed strict action against those involved in violence and vandalism.
Police have intensified their probe into the Asansol fire incident as part of wider efforts to maintain law and order in the region.
