
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Cooch Behar, June 4: Newly appointed minister Malati Rava Roy received a grand and enthusiastic welcome in her home district of Cooch Behar on Thursday following her oath-taking as a minister. After landing at Bagdogra Airport, she travelled by road to Cooch Behar, where party workers and supporters gathered in large numbers to celebrate her arrival.
A vibrant roadshow was organised in the city to mark the occasion. The minister travelled in an open vehicle as a colourful procession moved through the streets, accompanied by drumbeats, music, and slogans from enthusiastic supporters. Large crowds lined the roads to greet and felicitate her, turning the entire city into a festive celebration.
The roadshow, Malati Rava Roy visited the Madanmohan Temple, where she offered prayers for the welfare of the state and its people. She had recently won the Tufanganj Assembly constituency and has been appointed as an independent charge minister in the state cabinet.
The event, she also outlined her future development priorities, stating that several public welfare projects in Tufanganj will be her focus. These include the construction of the Jaldhoa Bridge, the establishment of a women’s police station, and the setup of a blood bank at the sub-divisional hospital.
The minister further stated that fulfilling the promises made during the election campaign remains her top priority. Her development roadmap is being viewed as significant in political circles, with expectations of major administrative initiatives in the region.
