IIE DIGITAL DESK : Vivo is reportedly gearing up for its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 6, and fresh leaks from Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo have revealed significant upgrades in chipset, camera, and battery departments. Although the company has not officially confirmed the device yet, multiple leaks suggest it will be one of the most powerful foldables of 2026.

The Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to mark a major shift in Vivo’s foldable strategy by moving away from Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Instead, the device may feature MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9500 chipset, making it one of the first foldables to adopt the new flagship processor. This change is seen as a significant move in Vivo’s performance and cost strategy for premium devices.

The smartphone is expected to continue Vivo’s signature book-style foldable approach with refinements such as a flatter display with slightly rounded corners and a large circular rear camera module. The device is also tipped to retain a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for quick unlocking and slimmer form factor efficiency.

The biggest highlight of the Vivo X Fold 6 appears to be its camera upgrade. Leaks suggest a massive leap to a 200-megapixel primary rear sensor, supported by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. This represents a major upgrade over the previous generation, which featured a triple 50MP setup.

Battery performance is also expected to see a significant improvement, with reports suggesting a capacity of around 7,000mAh, making it one of the largest batteries ever seen in a foldable smartphone. This could position the device strongly in terms of endurance, especially for power users.

On the software side, the device is likely to run the latest version of Android with Vivo’s custom OriginOS skin, offering enhanced multitasking features optimized for the foldable form factor. Performance improvements from the new chipset are also expected to enhance gaming, photography, and AI-based functions.

While the launch date has not been officially confirmed, industry reports suggest that the Vivo X Fold 6 may debut in China around mid-2026, followed by a global rollout later. If these leaks prove accurate, the device could become one of the most advanced foldables in the market, competing directly with Samsung and other premium foldable brands.

The Vivo X Fold 6 is shaping up to be a major flagship upgrade with a strong focus on performance, photography, and battery life, making it one of the most anticipated foldable smartphones of the year.
