IIE DIGITAL DESK ; New Delhi, October 6: Vivo has officially launched its latest premium foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 6, in India. The new book-style foldable arrives with a large 8.02-inch AMOLED inner display, a 6.51-inch cover screen, a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super chipset and a Zeiss-tuned triple rear camera setup led by a 200-megapixel primary sensor. The smartphone also packs a 6,900mAh battery and supports 80W wired fast charging.

The Vivo X Fold 6 has been launched in India in a single 12GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration. The smartphone is priced at Rs 2,19,999 and is currently available for pre-booking. The handset will go on sale in India through the Vivo India e-store from October 13. It is offered in Nebula Teal and Prism Black colour options.

Vivo has positioned the X Fold 6 as a flagship foldable aimed at consumers looking for premium performance, photography and multitasking capabilities. The phone was first launched in China earlier this year before making its way to the Indian market.

The biggest attraction of the device is its dual-display design. The main foldable screen measures 8.02 inches and uses an AMOLED panel with a 2,504 x 2,312-pixel resolution. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 424ppi pixel density, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour coverage, 300Hz touch sampling and HDR support. When the device is folded, users can continue using the 6.51-inch AMOLED cover display, which has a resolution of 1,120 x 2,528 pixels and supports similar display features.

Under the hood, the Vivo X Fold 6 is powered by MediaTek's 3nm octa-core Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset. The Indian version comes with 12GB of LPDDR5x Ultra RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The phone runs on Android 17-based OriginOS 7, bringing Vivo's latest software experience to the foldable flagship.

The camera system is another major highlight of the Vivo X Fold 6. The smartphone features a Zeiss-tuned triple rear camera setup, headlined by a 200-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.68 aperture and optical image stabilisation. The main camera is accompanied by a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.05 aperture and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with an f/2.57 aperture. The telephoto camera supports up to 100x digital zoom.

For selfies and video calls, the Vivo X Fold 6 features two 20-megapixel front cameras, with one positioned on the inner display and another on the cover screen. The phone can also record videos in resolutions of up to 8K, making the device particularly attractive to users who want a premium camera experience from a foldable smartphone.

Battery performance is another key area where Vivo has upgraded the device. The X Fold 6 comes with a 6,900mAh battery and supports 80W wired fast charging. The phone also supports wireless charging, while connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB Type-C, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and NavIC.

Vivo has also focused on durability. The X Fold 6 carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance. For security, the smartphone features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor along with face unlock.

Despite its large foldable display and high-capacity battery, the Vivo X Fold 6 maintains a relatively slim profile. When unfolded, the phone measures 157.16 x 145.66 x 4.40mm, while its folded dimensions are 157.16 x 74.26 x 9.40mm. The smartphone weighs approximately 228 grams.

Vivo is also offering several purchase benefits with the new foldable. Buyers can get instant cashback of up to Rs 26,400, while exchange and upgrade benefits are also available. The company is offering EMI options and additional benefits including three months of Google AI Pro. Customers who pre-book the smartphone can also receive priority access to Vivo Vision experience zones.

With a price tag of Rs 2,19,999, the Vivo X Fold 6 enters India's ultra-premium foldable smartphone segment. Its combination of a large 8.02-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, flagship MediaTek processor, 200-megapixel Zeiss camera, 6,900mAh battery, 80W charging and water-resistance ratings makes it one of Vivo's most ambitious foldable launches in the Indian market.

The Vivo X Fold 6 will officially go on sale in India from October 13, while pre-bookings have already begun. With the Indian foldable smartphone market becoming increasingly competitive, Vivo will be hoping that the X Fold 6's camera capabilities, large battery and powerful hardware can help it stand out among premium foldable rivals.
