IIE DIGITAL DESK : OnePlus is gearing up to introduce its latest addition to the Nord series, the OnePlus Nord CE 5, in the Indian market this June. Positioned as a mid-range smartphone, the Nord CE 5 is anticipated to offer a blend of performance and affordability, with an expected price tag of approximately ₹25,000.
The device has recently made appearances on certification platforms, including the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India and the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) in the UAE, signaling an imminent launch
In terms of design, leaked renders suggest that the Nord CE 5 will feature a flat frame and back, aligning with contemporary smartphone aesthetics. The rear is expected to house a dual-camera setup, comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. For selfies and video calls, a 16-megapixel front-facing camera is anticipated.
Under the hood, the Nord CE 5 is rumored to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8350 chipset, a shift from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 found in its predecessor, the Nord CE 4. This change could potentially enhance performance and power efficiency. The device is also expected to feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth visuals and vibrant colors.
A standout feature of the Nord CE 5 could be its substantial 7,100mAh battery, the largest ever in a OnePlus smartphone, supporting 80W fast charging. This would mark a significant upgrade over the 5,500mAh battery in the Nord CE 4, promising extended usage and quick recharging.
In terms of storage, the device is expected to come with at least 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It may also feature a hybrid slot, allowing for expandable storage options. Additional features could include a single speaker setup and the latest version of Android, providing users with a seamless and up-to-date software experience.
With its anticipated specifications and competitive pricing, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 is poised to compete with other mid-range smartphones in the Indian market, such as the Nothing Phone (3a) series, iQOO Z10 5G, Galaxy M56 5G, and Motorola Edge 60 Fusion.
As the launch date approaches, more concrete details are expected to emerge, providing a clearer picture of what the OnePlus Nord CE 5 will offer to consumers. For now, tech enthusiasts and potential buyers can look forward to the official unveiling of the device in June.
