IIE DIGITAL DESK : Motorola is gearing up to expand its premium smartphone lineup in India with the much-anticipated launch of the Motorola Edge 60, which is scheduled to hit the Indian market next week. The brand, known for offering a fine balance between sleek design and powerful performance, has already begun creating buzz by revealing key details about the upcoming device, including its colour options and core specifications.

According to official teasers and early leaks, the Motorola Edge 60 will come in at least two colour variants—Moonlight Pearl and Midnight Blue. Both variants are expected to feature a matte finish with a glass back design, continuing Motorola's recent design language that combines elegance with ergonomic build. The smartphone will also feature a lightweight profile, likely appealing to users looking for comfort in one-hand usage.

As per industry insiders and listings spotted on online retail platforms, the Motorola Edge 60 is expected to feature a 6.7-inch curved pOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz, making it ideal for immersive multimedia and gaming experiences. The curved edge screen, coupled with narrow bezels, is aimed at providing a premium visual appeal.

On the performance front, the smartphone is tipped to be powered by the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. This configuration suggests that Motorola is positioning the Edge 60 to compete with upper mid-range devices in the Indian market, offering both speed and multitasking efficiency. The phone is likely to run on Android 14 out of the box, with Motorola’s near-stock MyUX interface layered on top, promising minimal bloatware and a clean user experience.

The camera department is also set to be a highlight. The Edge 60 will reportedly feature a 50MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), supported by a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and potentially a macro functionality built into the secondary sensor. On the front, users can expect a 32MP selfie camera, housed within a punch-hole cutout at the center of the display. These features indicate Motorola’s focus on catering to photography enthusiasts and content creators.

Battery life is expected to be supported by a 4,500mAh battery, which will come with 68W TurboPower fast charging support. This should ensure that the device can be charged to over 50% in just a few minutes, making it ideal for users who are always on the move. Motorola’s proprietary charging technology has previously received praise for its efficiency and safety.

The Edge 60 will also include an in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and IP68 water and dust resistance, making it a well-rounded premium smartphone offering.

Motorola has yet to confirm the official pricing of the Edge 60, but industry sources suggest it will be priced competitively, likely in the Rs 30,000–35,000 segment, positioning it as a strong contender against other players like the OnePlus Nord series, Samsung Galaxy A-series, and iQOO Neo range.

The launch event is scheduled to take place next week, and the smartphone is expected to be available for purchase soon after, through leading e-commerce platforms as well as Motorola’s official website.

With the Motorola Edge 60, the company aims to reinforce its presence in India’s increasingly competitive smartphone market by offering a premium experience with flagship-like features at a relatively accessible price point.
