
IIE DIGITAL DESK : March 21: Mumbai City FC climbed to the top of the Indian Super League 2025–26 points table after securing a crucial 1-0 victory over league leaders Mohun Bagan Super Giant in an away match at Salt Lake Stadium on Friday.
The win proved to be a turning point in the standings, as Mumbai City moved ahead with 14 points from six matches, registering four wins and two draws to take the lead in the title race. Mohun Bagan, despite a strong run earlier in the season, slipped to second place with 13 points from six games, having recorded four wins, one draw, and one defeat.
NorthEast United FC suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat at home in Guwahati against Odisha FC, further shaking up the mid-table standings.
Jamshedpur FC currently hold the third spot with 13 points from six matches, closely trailing Mohun Bagan. FC Goa are placed fourth with nine points from five matches, while East Bengal FC and Bengaluru FC occupy the fifth and sixth positions respectively, both with eight points from five games.
NorthEast United are seventh with six points, followed by Punjab FC and Odisha FC with five points each. Inter Kashi also sit on five points, keeping the mid-table competition tight and unpredictable.
Chennaiyin FC are placed 11th with four points, while Sporting Club Delhi remain near the bottom with just two points. Kerala Blasters FC have had a difficult campaign so far, managing only one point from five matches, and Mohammedan SC sit at the bottom of the table without a single point.
The Indian Super League season, which began in February and runs through May, continues to deliver intense competition as teams battle for early dominance and playoff positions.
