IIE DIGITAL DESK : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to announce the Indian squad for the 2025 Asia Cup on August 19, 2025. With the tournament scheduled to commence on September 9 in the UAE, the selection committee, led by chief selector Ajit Agarkar, faces several critical decisions. The squad is expected to feature a blend of experienced players and emerging talents, aiming to defend India's title in the T20 format.

Several players are anticipated to secure their spots in the squad based on their recent performances and consistent form:

• Suryakumar Yadav: The middle-order batter is expected to lead the team, bringing stability and experience.

• Hardik Pandya: As an all-rounder, Pandya's role as a finisher and his bowling prowess make him a valuable asset.

• Abhishek Sharma: His all-round capabilities and recent performances position him as a key player in the squad.

• Rinku Singh: Despite a hefty IPL price tag, Singh's recent performances have earned him a place in the squad.

Notably, Test captain Shubman Gill is expected to be omitted from the T20 squad. Despite being favored by selectors and head coach Gautam Gambhir, Gill's exclusion is attributed to the team's current T20 strategy and the need for a more dynamic opening pair. 

Additionally, Yashasvi Jaiswal, despite his impressive performances, is likely to miss out on a spot in the final squad. The competition for opening positions is intense, and the selectors may opt for more experienced options.

• Shivam Dube vs. Washington Sundar: Both players are competing for the all-rounder's role, with Dube's aggressive batting and Sundar's spin bowling being key factors. 

• Shreyas Iyer vs. KL Rahul: The middle-order slots are up for grabs, with Iyer's consistency and Rahul's wicketkeeping skills being considered.Mohammad Siraj vs. Prasidh Krishna: The third pacer's position is uncertain, with both bowlers having their strengths and weaknesses.
