IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Zurich, May 9: The Fédération Internationale de Football Association FIFA has officially announced that the upcoming FIFA World Cup will feature separate opening ceremonies across all three host nations, each taking place before the first match in their respective countries.

FIFA’s announcement on social media platform X, the tournament will begin on June 11 in Mexico City, where the opening ceremony will feature a major musical lineup. Grammy Award-winning Mexican pop band Maná will headline the event, alongside popular artists including Alejandro Fernández and Belinda, marking a vibrant cultural start to the global football tournament in Mexico.

The celebrations will continue on June 12 in Toronto, Canada, ahead of Canada’s group-stage opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Canadian ceremony will feature performances by internationally acclaimed singer Alanis Morissette, along with Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara, and DJ and American musician Sanjay, bringing a mix of pop, jazz, and contemporary music to the event.

The same day, June 12, the United States will host its opening ceremony in Los Angeles before its match against Paraguay. The headline performer for the U.S. ceremony will be American pop superstar Katy Perry. The lineup will also include rapper Nayvadius Wilburn, widely known as Future, who is expected to deliver a high-energy performance as part of the opening festivities.

FIFA stated that the multi-city opening celebrations are designed to reflect the cultural diversity of the host nations and to mark the beginning of what is expected to be one of the most globally inclusive editions of the World Cup.
