The Board of Control for Cricket in India has now officially confirmed the host city for the IPL 2027 player auction, putting an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the venue.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the development on Wednesday night, announcing Goa as the host state for the upcoming IPL 2027 auction. The decision marks a significant development for the league, as Goa is set to host an Indian Premier League player auction for the first time.

The auction is scheduled to take place in December 2026. While the BCCI has confirmed December as the month for the event, the exact date is yet to be formally announced. The auction is currently expected to be held during the second week of December, with December 13 to 15 being considered as the likely window.

The final schedule, however, will depend on the completion of several related arrangements. The BCCI is expected to formally announce the exact dates along with the final player registration list once discussions and logistical preparations with the broadcast partners and IPL franchise owners have been completed.

The decision to bring the auction back to India comes after three successive editions were staged at international locations in West Asia. Hosting the event in Goa will therefore mark a return to India for one of the most closely followed events in the IPL calendar.
