IIE DIGITAL DESK : New Delhi, April 22: The first anniversary of the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful message reaffirming India’s unwavering resolve against terrorism and paid heartfelt tribute to the victims whose lives were lost in the horrific incident last year.

The tragic attack, carried out by terrorists on April 22, 2025, claimed the lives of 26 innocent people, largely tourists visiting the scenic Baisaran Valley in south Kashmir. The incident shook the nation and underscored the grave threat posed by terrorism in the region. 

The solemn post on the social media platform X on Wednesday morning, the Prime Minister recalled the “gruesome Pahalgam terror attack” and expressed deep sympathy for the families who continue to cope with the loss of their loved ones, assuring that the victims “will never be forgotten.” 

“As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve,” Mr. Modi wrote. “India will never bow to any form of terror, and the heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed.” His message stressed the unity and determination of the country in the face of such abhorrent violence and the collective commitment to ensure that extremist objectives do not prevail. 

The anniversary remembrance came amid continued efforts by the Indian government and security forces to strengthen national security and counter terrorism. In the aftermath of the attack, India launched military operations targeting terror infrastructure and reaffirmed its strategic stance against cross-border terror networks. 

Beyond political leadership, commemorations on Wednesday also saw other national figures pay tribute to the victims, reflecting the deep impact the Pahalgam tragedy had on communities across the country.

The anniversary serves not only as a memorial to those who lost their lives but also as a reminder of the ongoing threats the nation confronts. Through shared grief and reinforced resolve, India continues to uphold its zero-tolerance approach toward terrorism while honouring the memory of those whose lives were prematurely taken.
