India Government Making All-Out Efforts to Ensure Uninterrupted Supply of Diesel, Petrol, and LPG: Sujata Sharma

IIE DIGITAL DESK ; New Delhi, 1 June: The Government of India is making all-out efforts to ensure the uninterrupted supply of diesel, petrol, and LPG, informed Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. On Monday, at an inter-ministerial press conference, Sujata Sharma said, "Wholesale and industrial customers are being requested to procure diesel only through authorized purchase channels. The Government of India is making every possible effort to ensure the continuous supply of diesel, petrol, and LPG. Therefore, the public is advised not to believe rumors and to rely solely on official information."

Sujata Sharma further stated, "State governments and Union Territories have been requested to strengthen vigilance and enforcement measures. In the past three days, 10 FIRs related to LPG have been registered and three individuals have been arrested. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) conducted surprise inspections at 460 LPG distributorships, resulting in fines being imposed on 42 LPG distributors. In the case of petrol and diesel, approximately 1,300 inspections were carried out in the last three days. A total of 960 liters of petrol and 2,194 liters of diesel were seized. OMCs conducted surprise inspections at 1,850 retail outlets, fined 19 outlets, and suspended 446 retail outlets. Since March, nearly 856,000 PNG (piped natural gas) connections have been converted to gas, additional infrastructure has been created for 296,000 connections, and 878,000 new customers have been registered. Additionally, more than 77,800 PNG customers have voluntarily surrendered their LPG connections."
