Heavy Rains Cause Havoc in Pune: Four Dead, Widespread Flooding and Evacuations

IIE Digital Desk: Due to the caused of continued rainfall in the Khadakwasla Dam and it has reached its full capacity on July 25. An alert have been issued on Thursday, to the residents were living along the riverbanks and it was released at a speed of 27203 cubic foot per sec. Due to continous and heavy rainfall in Pune on Wednesday night and water have entered the houses at located in Ekta Nagri and Vitthal Nagar areas.Pune faced severe disruption as heavy rains caused extensive flooding across the city, leading to the deaths of four individuals. The torrential downpour resulted in widespread waterlogging, compelling authorities to evacuate numerous residents from affected areas.  

According to The India Meterolofical Department (IMD) issued a red alert on some of the districts and urged people to take necessary situations. Schools and colleges were remain shut acrross the district and declared a holiday with the responsed due to the heavy rainfall. Rain related incidents have claimed that the lives of four rainfalls. Due to the heavy rainfall, three men have died in shocked and moving towards the Deccan Area and one person have died due to the landslide in the Tahmini Ghat. Pune district saw an extensive damaged with rescue teams and worked to remove trash and reopen roads. Emergency services were on high alert, responding to multiple distress calls and conducting rescue operations. The local administration urged citizens to stay indoors and avoid non-essential travel while efforts to mitigate the impact of the flooding continued. The situation remains critical, with further rain expected.
