New Delhi (August 29,2023) : The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has released data that shows that at least 6.5% of COVID-19 patients died post-discharge. The data, which was collected from 120 hospitals across the country, found that 13,382 of the 207,493 patients who were discharged from the hospitals died within 28 days of being released. The ICMR said that the most common causes of death post-discharge were multi-organ failure, respiratory failure, and cardiac arrest. The data also showed that the risk of death post-discharge was higher in patients who were older, had underlying medical conditions, or had a severe case of COVID-19.

The ICMR has advised COVID-19 patients to continue taking precautions even after they have been discharged from the hospital. These precautions include wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, and avoiding crowded places. The data released by the ICMR is a reminder that COVID-19 is a serious disease that can have long-term consequences. It is important for people to take all the necessary precautions to protect themselves from the virus.
