IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata, May 9: The occasion of the birth anniversary of world-renowned poet, philosopher, and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari paid rich tributes, remembering the cultural icon’s enduring legacy and contributions to literature, humanism, and nationalism.

Marking the special day of “25th Baishakh,” which is celebrated across Bengal with cultural programmes and recitations of Tagore’s works, Adhikari took to social media to express his reverence. In a post on his official Facebook page, he extended his respectful salutations to the poet, describing Tagore as a timeless beacon of inspiration for humanity.

The Chief Minister highlighted Tagore’s profound influence on Bengali literature and global thought. He referred to the poet as a “world poet, Nobel laureate, and an eternal shining star in the cultural sky of Bengal,” whose creative works and philosophy continue to guide generations.

Adhikari also emphasized Tagore’s humanistic ideals and patriotic vision, stating that his thoughts and creations have consistently illuminated the path of society across eras. Quoting one of Tagore’s most iconic lines, “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high,” he noted that this message remains a powerful inspiration for progress and human development.

The tribute comes as part of widespread commemorations of Rabindra Jayanti across West Bengal, where cultural programmes, musical performances of Rabindra Sangeet, and literary gatherings are being organized to honour the legacy of the legendary poet.
