While entering the ED office, Rathin Ghosh addressed reporters and briefly commented on the recent incidents involving protests and alleged attacks surrounding Trinamool Congress leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Kalyan Banerjee. Referring to the controversy, he remarked that if the shortcomings and underlying issues could be properly identified, many problems might have been resolved. His statement was viewed as a response to the growing political debate surrounding the incidents.
Rathin Ghosh was also absent from a meeting held at the Kalighat residence of Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Sunday. The Madhyamgram MLA claimed that he could not attend the gathering due to illness. According to the agency, illegal recruitments were carried out in the civic body based on recommendations made during the period when Rathin Ghosh served as Vice-Chairman of the municipality between 2014 and 2018. Investigators are examining whether appointments were made in violation of established recruitment procedures and whether any financial irregularities were involved.
