Kolkata Municipality to Plant 1 Crore Trees in Next 3 Years
Kolkata (July 15,2023) : Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim has announced that the city municipality is aiming to plant one crore trees in the next three years. The mayor made the announcement during a "Talk to the Mayor" event on Friday.
Hakim said that the municipality has already planted 50,000 trees in the last few months. He said that the municipality is working with private organizations and NGOs to plant the remaining trees.
The mayor said that the tree-planting drive is part of the municipality's efforts to improve the city's air quality and environment. He said that the trees will help to reduce pollution and provide shade and clean air to the city's residents.
