IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata, March 20: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday unveiled the Trinamool Congress manifesto titled “Pratigya,” outlining an ambitious roadmap focused on healthcare, education, employment, and social welfare. The document reflects the party’s strategy to strengthen its connect with the grassroots while promising a new phase of development if it returns to power for a fourth consecutive term.
The heart of the manifesto is the promise of launching a new healthcare initiative called “Duaare Chikitsa,” aimed at delivering quality medical services directly to people’s doorsteps. Under this scheme, the government plans to organize annual medical camps in every block and town across the state. With the tagline “Right to Health for Every Citizen of Bengal,” the initiative seeks to expand access to healthcare, particularly in underserved and rural areas, by bringing doctors, diagnostic services, and basic treatment facilities closer to communities.
The manifesto also places significant emphasis on the education sector, recognizing it as a key pillar for long-term development. Through a proposed initiative focused on strengthening educational institutions, the government has pledged comprehensive infrastructure upgrades in all government schools. With the guiding theme of securing the future through education, the plan aims to improve school facilities, learning environments, and overall institutional quality.
Employment generation has emerged as another major focus area in the manifesto. The All India Trinamool Congress has promised the creation of 1 million new jobs, linking this goal to broader infrastructure development projects across the state. The party believes that investments in infrastructure will not only boost economic growth but also generate large-scale employment opportunities for the youth.
The manifesto reiterates the party’s commitment to expanding existing social welfare schemes. Programs such as Lakshmir Bhandar, Yuvashree, and old-age pension benefits are set to be broadened in scope, ensuring wider coverage and enhanced financial support for beneficiaries.
The manifesto outlines plans for structural changes, including the creation of seven new districts if the party returns to power. This move is aimed at improving governance efficiency and bringing administrative services closer to the people.
The release of “Pratigya” marks a crucial step in the Trinamool Congress’s campaign for the 2026 elections, as it seeks to consolidate its voter base with a mix of welfare-driven policies and development-oriented promises. With a strong focus on healthcare access, educational reform, and employment generation, Mamata Banerjee’s manifesto attempts to position her government as both people-centric and forward-looking.
As the electoral battle intensifies, the manifesto is expected to play a key role in shaping the political narrative in West Bengal, setting the stage for a high-stakes contest in the months ahead.
