IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 23: The death anniversary of the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and Bharat Kesari Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari paid respectful tribute and remembered him with reverence. He said that Dr. Shyama Prasad was a true patriot.
On the death anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Suvendu Adhikari stated on Tuesday, “Today is ‘Balidan Diwas’. The outstanding contribution of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee is known to all. He was a patriot, and his role in the creation of West Bengal was extremely significant. It is precisely for this reason that the Prime Minister spoke in detail about him during the ‘State Foundation Day’ programme. Because of his contribution, Kashmir is now an integral part of the country. He raised the slogan—‘One country, one constitution, one flag, one leader’. This government will work under his guidance and follow his principles and ideals. Today the entire country is observing the day as ‘Balidan Diwas’. For the first time after independence, the West Bengal government—especially the Department of Information and Culture and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation—has organised this programme.”
On Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s death anniversary, Suvendu Adhikari also paid floral tribute to his bust at Keoratala crematorium. Swapan Dasgupta and Agnimitra Paul were also present at the event.
After offering floral tribute at Keoratala crematorium, Suvendu Adhikari said, “For 15 years, there was a regime in the state that tried to hide history. That is why we are observing ‘Self-Sacrifice Day’ today. There is mystery surrounding the death of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. The entire Hindu community remains eternally grateful to him. His contributions were ignored for so long.”
